New York Engagement Session: Stacey + Nick

It's way past time to catch up with some blogging! I knew immediately where to begin.

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to travel to New York City to take engagement photos of Stacey and Nick - a very sweet not to mention gorgeous couple! It just so happens New York has a very special place in my heart since my oldest son, Justin, lives there. Any reason to go to New York is a great reason - but this one has topped them all. Now not only did everyone not mind me bringing my camera along....they actually expected me to!

We started the session in the beautiful Millenium Hilton, an amazing New York Hotel located near Wall Street.

It doesn't take very long to figure out that these two are very much in love.

Stacey - you are absolutely gorgeous and that necklace is to die for!

Nick - you're not so bad yourself and one of the sweetest guys I've met in a long time.

Nick proposed to Stacey with this amazing black diamond engagement ring! It suits her perfectly.

We hit New York's famous subways, my personal favorite mode of travel in the big city.

From the Brooklyn View, you can see Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge. And while I was getting ready to photograph, Nick was stealing a little shugga! (And not the kind we put in our sweet tea down south!)

It was a beautiful day and even though it was quite chilly - this sweet couple was all smiles.

Seriously, Stacey - how do you walk in those heels, much less dip?

Stacey is an amazing young woman and it's evident by all the special men in her life. The shoot was even more fun with my special helpers Justin and Vicente, who are both special to Stacey and to me!

I had such a fun time in New York with Stacey and Nick. What began as a photo shoot continues with great new friendships!

Who's Lucky??

I have been very blessed to get to know some truly amazing young women. Carolyn is one of those. She is one of those people that just seems to always have a beautiful smile on her face and that is especially bright when her friend Lucky is by her side. We love to get some time with Carolyn and when she brings Lucky to visit I am always amazed at what great manners he shows. She has done a wonderful job training Lucky and I hope you enjoy getting to see his many personalities.

I started to make a "meow" sound to get his attention and boy the expressions he gave me were priceless.

By now Lucky just seemed to look at his "Mama" as if to say, "is she really still trying to fool me with that pitiful cat impression?" Ha ha,,, he's a keeper I tell ya.

We love your visits out to the country Carolyn and you can bring Lucky with you anytime. Thanks for allowing us to get to know you and your sweet friend Lucky.

We are very thankful we do!!

Darling Dana

Life has a way of sneaking up on us and allowing us to experience God with a whole new perspective. Sometimes it happens in sunsets, sometimes through words of others, and sometimes through special people like Dana.

I began to hear about Dana a few years ago when her mother and I worked in the same office. It was at that time I began to see God's hand wrapped tightly around this amazing young woman. Instead of me trying to explain all that is going on in Dana's life, please go read her blog.

This past week we had the opportunity to go take some pictures of Dana and capture one of the cutest personalities I have ever seen.

Before I ever arrived, I knew this first picture was going to be my favorite. Dana's connection to God is both encouraging and inspiring to be around. We love sunsets and she happens to live on a beautiful lake - so we combined the two with a peak into her prayer time....and voila!

I don't know what I like best in this picture....her eyes or her amazing hair.

At first she felt the awkwardness of having her picture made, but it didn't take long before she turned her personality on and with that came this beautiful smile.

She dozed off for just a minute but I didn't mind - it gave me a chance to snap a pic of her beautiful eyelashes. (Just kidding!)

Her mom managed to run home from work and throw on the oldest pair of sweat pants she owned. I realized she did that in order to stay out of the pictures. However, she could not escape the camera totally, as I got this sweet shot of how they spend most of their time together when Dana is in hospital. (P.S. Notice the beautiful engagement ring from Ben the Brothed.) :-)

Seriously....how cute is this girl?

I don't know if love the picture more because of how beautiful Dana is or the fact that Jenna is carefully positioned behind the chair to keep Dana from tumbling into the lake. Not cool to go to surgery with a banged up head from falling in the water. (Thanks Jenna!)

Dana is an avid reader and it probably doesn't hurt to have such a beautiful swing and view to do so.

Oh la la! I LOVE this picture!!!

Thank you so much for allowing us to come and play. We love you and will be lifting you before the thrown. Hurry back to the Boro. We'll be on the dock waiting for you. :-)

Been Fishin lately?

One of the best parts of being a photographer is getting to go outside with little boys and see the world through their eyes. Dalton was having fun and the fact that as soon as he was done with the "pictures for his Mama" he could go fishing didn't hurt at all.

Looks like he is going to jump out of the picture, I love this one.

Not sure if I love his pretty eyes more or his cute freckles, but either way he is
a cutie pie for sure!!!

Now, time for fishing and we all needed to be quiet,, everyone knows you can't catch fish if people are talking!!! Thanks for the reminder Dalton,,, you are adorable.

Everyonce in a while the world falls silent and you see the touch of God and His plan for our lives very clearly. I hope you
are able to see it in this video. We sure did. Two children, that needed a family, far apart from one another and yet God knew
what each needed and allowed His gentle whispers to draw them together. Makes me smile and be very thankful for a live
and active God.

Marlee is Graduating!!!!

This was my first attempt at a graduation card. We loved it and hope you all enjoy it as well. Thanks for all the support for both myself as I begin this new journey of my life, and especially for Marlee as she begins hers. Life goes by too quickly and this is proof. Seems like just yesterday we were picking out names for her.

We are blessed with kids hanging around our house. Everyonce in a while I am able to talk one of them into posing for me long enough to figure a few new things out. Clay was sweet enough to help me this time. And,,, well look how cute he is....

Special Moments

The moments that have a "Kalyn feel" to them do not come around as often as they once did. I long for them at times and they can include the sound of wind chimes or the special rhythm in which a baby breathes or a deer that appears out of no where to only stand and look back at me as if they too know the memory they have triggered. Another memory that I am fortunate enough to see very often is a colorful sunset. We live out in the country where the sunsets are amazing and each time I see one, I just smile to myself that perhaps tonight Kalyn might be in charge of the colors. This past week, we took our daughter Marlee for a college visit. Needless to say the potential for emotions to run away, were very present. We had a great time and were able to enjoy our time in Athens on such a beautiful campus. I didn't even take my camera out, until the last few moments there. Once I did, the details of the city jumped out at me. As we were walking towards our car to leave, I noticed an interesting face on the side of the building that pulled at my heart. I guess we just never know why our thoughts run as they do, or when they will take over the circumstances of the moment, but for whatever reason this became a Marlee/Kalyn moment. It felt as if this little face looking down at me, was a reminder that if in fact Marlee did go here to college, Kalyn just might approve and would be watching over her. That may not make sense to anyone else, but it rang true to me. I know in my heart God has such an amazing way of reaching us, of helping us, of whispering in our ear that He loves us so much that even when we forget He is there, He still is. Be Still and Know....

The Greenes Came to Visit!!!

You know those people that touch your heart in a way, that each time you see them you are reminded of the kind of love few friendships ever have? Racee and her family are that reminder to our family. It seems we have known her most of her life. Her parents, are some of our very best friends and to see Racee all grown up with such a beautiful family, well that is the dessert of life. Here are some pictures of her cute boys, I hope you enjoy them.

Jackson is the oldest and without him, I don't think we would have been able to get any pictures of Jonas, ha ha. Thank goodness for big brothers.

Did I mention that Jackson has some of the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen?!

Jonas is at that stage of life where the only good place to be is in his Mother's lap, so we had to do a little tricking to get him to play along.

Wait, I just realized my Mom isn't holding me. How did that happen?

I mean don't you just want to pick him up and squeeze him? I bet his Grandma, or as Jonas and Jackson call her, Nomi does.

At this point, Jackson went into the sit very still stare position. And Jonas, well he was looking for his Mama. :)

Good things come to those who help out the photographer and while Racee was putting Jonas in the car, I gave Jackson the green light to jump off the porch!!! It was both a safe and pretty amazing jump. "To infinity and beyond!!" Please come back soon, we love you all very much.

We were out taking some pictures one day and as always, Jenna was willing to sacrifice herself to help me learn a little more about angles and lighting and whatever else I have to learn to capture a good photo. Sean in the Boro!!!

The best part of living in a town that has a University is getting to know some of the amazing students that attend. Sean is one of those people that God allowed to step into the life of our family. The bad part of living in a town that hosts a University is that those students eventually graduate and some of them move away. Sean has moved to New Orleans where he is now going to Seminary School. He had a short fall break and came to visit us during that time. The only thing I required was for him to bring along his guitar and his beautiful voice, well that and of course a little photo opt down by the pond. Hope you enjoy getting to see "one of mine" back in the boro.

Pomegranate

Childhood memories are the best! As a child my Mama would always buy one of these amazingly curious pomegranates home for us kids. They are as much fun to look at as they are to eat. If you have never given this a try, then what are you waiting for? The faces they will make as they begin to grasp the concept is worth it. It has been nice to find out how healthy pomegranates are as well. Hope you enjoy them as much as we did as children and still are as adults. I love those kind of memories. Thanks Mama!!!

Meet Phoebe!! She joined our family today and we are loving this sweet little girl. She is a Maltese and about as cute a puppy as we have ever seen. And yes her hair is as soft as it looks. I just had to put up some of these photos of Blake. Can we just saw WOW!?! His "new" family just happen to be our old friends and we all had a great time at the lake. It was so much fun to watch them all in action and I managed to grab a few photos of his mad skills on the wakeboard. I also got a couple of his beautiful wife Christy. Hope you enjoy them!!!!

Girls Retreat on Tybee Island

Earlier in the summer, I chaperoned a Girls Retreat on Tybee Island. We ate a lot, slept a little, and learned a ton about God. Of course, we also had to make time to play around with the camera and some of the girls (otherwise known as "Marsha's Mellows") down on the beach.

Just wanted to throw a few of these up here because we had so much fun that weekend. And what better way to showcase all these pretty girls than a slideshow on the blog!?

Every time I take pictures of my daughter Marlee, I am reminded of how quickly she's growing up. Tears.

Kalyn Moments is the heartbeat behind my photography. Having had a special needs child, I realize how difficult a photo shoot can be for some children, as well as for their parents.

The one regret I have from our daughter Kalyn's life is that we never found someone that was able to capture on film how special she was to us. I hope to be the person that bridges that gap for families. Thus began this project.

I hope you enjoy these kids as much as I do, they truly are amazing.

Hi. My name is Marsha, and I love to take pictures. Sounds like one of those, "tell me about yourself" lines, but the truth is I really do love holding a camera in my hand and finding the one detail that makes us all unique.

Photographs help tell a story, and I enjoy getting to know people in a way that allows a day of fun while capturing those moments that will tell their individual story.
